The Feral Folk - Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 10 September 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to all guided hiking trips and overnight adventures provided by The Feral Folk Pty Ltd (“The Feral Folk”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By booking or participating in a Feral trip, you agree to these Terms, our Participant Agreement & Liability Waiver, and any trip-specific information provided to you.
1. Booking & Eligibility
Bookings are made through our online booking system and are subject to availability.
Your booking is confirmed once you’ve paid the non-refundable deposit and all required participant, medical and waiver forms have been completed.
Participants must be 18 years or older.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the fitness, experience and preparation required for the trip you book.
You must provide accurate information regarding any medical conditions, allergies, medications or other circumstances that may affect your ability to participate safely.
The Feral Folk reserves the right to decline or end participation where we reasonably believe someone's participation presents a safety risk to themselves or others.
2. Prices & Payment
All prices are in AUD and include GST where applicable.
The price displayed at the time of booking applies to your booking.
You can choose to pay for your trip in full at the time of booking, or select the deposit + 3 instalments payment option where available.
If you choose the deposit + 3 instalments option, your deposit is required to secure your place, with the remaining balance automatically payable in three instalments according to the payment schedule shown at the time of booking.
By selecting the instalment payment option, you agree to pay all scheduled instalments by their applicable due dates. Your place on the trip remains subject to payment of the full booking amount.
If an instalment payment is unsuccessful or not received by the due date, The Feral Folk may contact you to arrange payment. If payment remains outstanding, we may cancel your booking in accordance with our cancellation terms and any amounts already paid may be subject to the applicable cancellation conditions.
Payment requirements, including the deposit amount, instalment amounts and payment dates, will be clearly outlined during the booking process.
Prices and promotions may change for future trips but will not affect confirmed bookings.
3. Cancellations & Refunds
Participant cancellations
Unless otherwise stated on the individual trip page:
More than 30 days before departure: you may request a transfer to another available Feral trip or a refund, less any non-refundable deposit or costs already incurred.
30 days or less before departure: bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable, as trip costs and supplier commitments will generally already have been incurred.
Any rights you have under Australian Consumer Law continue to apply.
Cancellation by The Feral Folk
We may cancel or reschedule a trip due to weather, safety concerns, park or trail closures, permit issues, guide illness, insufficient numbers, natural disasters or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where we cancel a trip, we will offer an appropriate alternative, such as a transfer, credit or refund, subject to the circumstances and your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
We are not responsible for additional costs such as flights, accommodation, fuel or other travel expenses resulting from a cancelled or changed trip.
4. Weather & Itinerary Changes
Outdoor adventures are subject to changing conditions. The Feral Folk may alter the route, campsite, activities, location, timing or itinerary where reasonably necessary for safety, environmental or operational reasons.
Your guide has the final say on route selection, pace, activities and whether a participant can safely continue.
Participants must follow all reasonable instructions provided by their guide.
5. Gear & Inclusions
Trip inclusions are outlined on each individual trip page.
For All-Inclusive bookings, The Feral Folk may provide equipment such as hiking packs, tents, sleeping bags or quilts, sleeping mats and camp kitchen equipment.
For BYO Gear bookings, participants are responsible for bringing the equipment specified in the trip packing list.
All loaned equipment remains the property of The Feral Folk or the relevant equipment partner and must be returned at the end of the trip. Participants are responsible for loss or damage caused by misuse or failure to follow reasonable instructions, excluding normal wear and tear.
Some tents are shared on a twin-share basis. Private tents are not guaranteed unless specifically stated.
6. Medical & Fitness Requirements
Hiking involves physical activity and exposure to natural and remote environments. Participants are responsible for determining whether a trip is suitable for their fitness and abilities.
You must disclose any relevant medical conditions, injuries, allergies or medications before participating and notify us if your circumstances change.
The Feral Folk may request additional information or medical clearance where reasonably necessary for safety.
7. Participant Conduct
We want Feral trips to be welcoming, safe and respectful for everyone.
Participants must:
follow guide and safety instructions;
treat other participants, guides and members of the public respectfully;
respect wildlife and the environment;
follow Leave No Trace principles and park regulations; and
avoid behaviour that puts themselves or others at unnecessary risk.
Harassment, discrimination, bullying, threatening behaviour, violence or unsafe conduct will not be tolerated and may result in removal from a trip without refund.
Alcohol or drug use that affects your ability to safely participate is not permitted.
8. Risk & Liability
Overnight hiking and outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including falls, uneven terrain, weather, wildlife, water crossings, illness, injury, fatigue, equipment failure and delayed access to emergency services.
By participating, you acknowledge these risks and agree to comply with our Participant Agreement & Liability Waiver.
Participants are responsible for bringing all required items outlined in the pre-hike packing list, including personal medications.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
9. Photography & Content
Photography and video may be captured during Feral trips and used for promotional, marketing and editorial purposes across The Feral Folk, @nowastedweekendz, our websites, social media channels and other marketing platforms.
By participating in a trip, you consent to appearing in this content. If you do not wish to appear in promotional content, please let us know before the trip or notify your guide.
10. Insurance
We recommend that participants obtain appropriate travel or adventure insurance covering cancellation, illness, injury, personal belongings and emergency assistance where relevant.
Participants are responsible for checking that their insurance covers the activities and locations involved in their trip.
11. Privacy
We collect personal information required to process bookings, communicate with participants and safely operate our trips, including relevant medical, dietary and emergency contact information.
Your information will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and will only be shared where reasonably necessary to operate the trip, respond to an emergency, meet legal or insurance requirements, or as otherwise permitted by law.
12. Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit or exclude your rights under that legislation.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
