Meet your Guide
Hey! I’m Kristen. I created Feral because I know how intimidating it can be to step into something new on your own. Sometimes you want the adventure, but you don't have the experience, the confidence, or the people around you to take that first step.
I wanted to create a space where you don't need to be an experienced hiker or have a crew of outdoorsy friends to belong. A place where you can challenge yourself, make lifelong friends, and discover just how capable you truly are.
Sometimes all you need is someone to take that first step with you. I want Feral to be that someone.
What I Bring to the Trail
I went on my first overnight hike at 21 and accidentally made it my whole personality. What started as a weekend getaway with my best friend quickly turned into years of chasing bigger adventures.
Since then, I’ve hiked all over the world, completing a two-week trek in Nepal and summiting mountains as high as 5,686m (Vallunaraju, Peru - hands down the hardest thing I’ve ever done).

I’ve also completed my Wilderness First Aid Certificate with Klepper and Navigation & Survival Training with the Australian School of Mountaineering, giving me the skills and confidence to lead others safely in the outdoors.
After years of hiking, travelling and learning through my own adventures, The Feral Folk is my way of sharing that experience and helping more people build the skills, confidence and connections to go out and do it for themselves.

Beyond the Trail
There’s a little more to me than hiking.
I’m a people person through and through. I love meeting new people, making genuine connections and, if I’m lucky, turning them into friendships that last long after the trip is over. I’m an empath, I’m passionate about sustainability, I love animals, and I’m happiest when I’m travelling somewhere new or old. I’ve travelled to over 40 countries so far, and I still have a bucket list that only seems to be getting longer.
I’m fiercely independent, endlessly curious, very funny and incredibly humble.
By day, I’m a Finance Manager. By night, I’m a content creator over on @nowastedweekendz.
At the heart of it all, I love people, I love adventure and I love bringing the two together. And I think that’s probably the most important thing to know about the person behind The Feral Folk.
For context, we were looking at Flamingos in the Atacama Desert, Chile.
